Please bear with me Another Start issue Asked differently 94 Bonneville
Please bear with me for those who have answered this stuff more than they cared too. I have a 94 Bonneville, my car dies at stop lights sometimes too, but not worried over that right now....my problem is this.....I insert my key, wrestle the lock mechanism and try to start my car--I get a small "boink" noise in the dash it sounds like and no action. My security light does NOT FLASH, it will come on for a few seconds each attempt then goes out. My inflatable restraint light WILL FLASH 6 times and goes out each attempt. All lights and options seem to work just fine. If I leave the key on and crawl under the front and jump the posts on the starter with a screw driver she will fire right up-( same thing anytime she stalls-hot or cold-will start right up imeadiately)---Is there a relay or something I need to look at? While ideling it seems to stumble once in awhile and lose all power also-lights will dim for a flash then catches itself it seems..(maybe not when it actually does stall?)--Any help would be appreciated. All the post I have read were a little diffrent than mine--temp doesnt matter here, and I have no cranking what so ever without the screw driver.....Thanks [email protected]

Re: Please bear with me Another Start issue Asked differently 94 Bonneville
Check for 12v at the solenoid when trying to crank, if ok, the solenoid or starter is bad if none back track to trans position sensor/neutral sw. on the top of the trans where the linkage connects, look for corrosion in the connector. A wiring diagram may be required to check the correct wires.

No Doubt Max---I jumped from the switched power(yellow) before the switch on the tranny to the starter wire (purple) and bang zoom---end of story.............So many thanks to all..............I intend to run it this way also......and I notice now I have at least two or three severely arching plug wires which may contribute to the stalling issues................did not notice them before--may be getting better current now?--Oh well one battle at a time here...Thanks....Roger

No problem--half of the fix it info is in the study n of folks' replys...for those who never share back with the cure it is a shame. They only ask, and take. What makes these places have such glory is the sharing and helping one another---Roger---otherwise hell, throw 60 plus an hour at a shop and let them guess for ya............

Word of warning, you have jumped your P/N safety switch and the engine will now start in any gear selected. Be careful!

Re: Please bear with me Another Start issue Asked differently 94 Bonneville
Yes Sir, I understand. In fact a week ago we were putting a 700R4 in my Sons 68 GMC and he was determined to use his three on the tree shifter for it. While he was doing this I warned him of the same thing...he could start in gear to be really careful...especially since his was backwards and running off the R-1 arm..............thanks guys.......Roger
