Sliding Rear Window Latch

So when I bought my pickup it had a sliding rear window. I'm cool with that, right?

Problem is I noticed the previous owner had broke the latch for the sliding rear window and to keep people from stealing things out of the truck, they just wrapped wire around the two halves.

So, I went to the dealership to get a new latch, the guy looked it up and said it was discontinued and he didn't have any. He did give me the part number and told me to check on the internet.

I did so. I found a company that had some on hand so I ordered one for 20 bucks shipped.

Today it came and I went to put it on. No luck, its not the right one. So, I think someone replaced the glass in the back of my pickup.

So, now I sit here with a latch that doesnt fit, and a sliding rear window thats still being held shut with a piece of wire.

Has anoyone ever deal with this before? I took the old latch off and looked for any sort of writing on it, but I didn't find anything. However I did find a stamp on the lower corner of the sliding rear window that said GRL saftemp. I do not know if that is the brand name or what.

Here are some pictures taken from my camer phone, so don't yell at me for the bad quality....

Anyone what to buy the latch? $15.00 shipped OBO!

Where can I get a new latch that will fit?

Re: Sliding Rear Window Latch

Yeah, looks like they made two different styles. www.lmctruck.com looks to have the one you need. Here's the catalog page (bottom left):

Hope this helps!

Re: Sliding Rear Window Latch

So I guess the sliding rear window from a 88-94 k1500 will also fit into a 97 k1500. Unless I actually bought an 88-94 and its all one big giant conspircy.

I swear sometimes.....

So, I guess the 95+ Latch is still for sale!!!!!!!!!! Cheap! Get it while supplies last! Make me an offer I can refuse and it is yours!

Re: Sliding Rear Window Latch

jdmccright, you beat me to the punch! Thanks for the info! Makes sence now. Man do I feel dumb! I guess I should ask on here before going to the dealership. You would think they would be able to find the right part in their database.... guess not!
