Gear Selector Gremlins
'96 Caravan with 3.3 and A604/41TE transmission and when I go to start, Key On, gear selector says I am in R (yes I hacve adjusted the cable). She starts in the R mode and then the seletor is blank (no little square around any gear modes) . After starting I have selector modes identified (the little select square) except P and N, I never have these identified by the little select square. I suspect the PRND3L switch but am not sure, any one want to comment?

Re: Gear Selector Gremlins
Did you try testing your instrument cluster by pressing and holding the trip and reset buttons at the same time, turning the key to on and continuing to hold the buttons for 5 seconds then release?

Re: Gear Selector Gremlins
Agree. The TRS connection is on the front right side of the transmission. I think it sets verticle to the rest. Try inspecting it for damage or corrosion and make sure it's back on tight. The TRS uses four internal switches to function.

Re: Gear Selector Gremlins
Thanks for all of the responses, I am not sure my '96 has both trip and rest functions (I will look, I should know after 13 years) and I intend to pull the TRS connetor and clean up the pins. I will let you know what happens.
