Engine Water Temp

Just bought a 07 with the 53 engine and temp gauge reads 210. I drove three other ones before getting this one and they did the same. I have a friend that has a 08 chev pickup and his is the same. Seems kind of hot to me or is that the way it should be.
Thanks

Gauges are not always right.
Check the actual engine running tempt with a digital infared thermometer.
Running tempt should be around 195.

Re: Engine Water Temp

I agree with you that they should run at 195. I was a mechanic for thirty years but have been retired for many years. I just thought it was strange that all the chevys I drove with the 5.3 ran right on 210. I just got rid of a 2000 pickup with the 5.3 and that ran at 195.
Thanks for the reply

Re: Engine Water Temp

You are welcome.
Have you checked the actual running tempt with a thermometer?
Post back what you find there.
