'01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp question

If I want to install an amp and subwoofer, where would I get the RCA to put into the amp? Is there a wire that I can split going into the RCU? Don't mean to double post but my question was buried in the other post.

Re: '01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp question

If all you're adding is an amp for the sub, you don't really need the best signal possible. You're easiest solution may be to use a line level converter to take the leads to the rear speakers, convert them to low-level RCA lines and use those for the subwoofer amplifier.

Re: '01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp question

Wait one quick question... How many watts are going to the speakers in the back?

Re: '01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp question

I'm afraid to ask why you're asking. You will not be able to power the subwoofer off of those speakers, even if you used a passive crossover. The power to them depends a bit on which stock audio system you have, probably something like 15-25W for the standard systems. The power to the speakers does not have an impact on using a line level converter as most of them have a "gain" control anyway as well as the amplifier having gain control.

Oh, no, of course not. I just wanted to make sure the converter that I got could handle the wattage.

Thank you so much!! Rod you rock!!

Re: '01 Taurus SEL Mach Audio amp question

The input impedance of the converter is so high it shouldn't have any problem. It probably be something like 11kohms and be capacitively coupled.
