02 Caravan Engine PROBLEM!!!

I have a good friend that owns a 2002 dodge caravan. I know it has the 3.0 in it but not much else. Couple of weeks ago it started to run like crap, then it died on the side of the road and would not start. We replaced the wires and plugs ( they were toast ). I thought that was the problem. Nope, still no start. I loaned him my scanner and it pulled out three codes: P0108, P1297, and P0303. We know the P0303 is misfire, that was probably due to the wires and plugs. One was for the MAP sensor, so we replaced it. After that it started up, but still runs like crap. He does have enough money to start replacing parts and I have no idea were to start. If anyone can help.

Can you expand on "runs like crap"? All the time hot or cold?

Re: 02 Caravan Engine PROBLEM!!!

does the hose at the map sensor have vacuum with the engine running. p0108 map sensor voltage too high, p1297 no change in map from start to run..

Re: 02 Caravan Engine PROBLEM!!!

Everything I've read says the 3.0 ltr engine was discontinued in 2000. You must have a 3.3 or 3.8 ltr. If you haven't yet make sure the plug wires are routed correctly and inspect all vacuum hoses for cracks or chaffing. If equipped verify EGR is working and not binding. An EGR valve that's cracked open can cause a healthy vacuum leak. Verify injectors are working by listening for a consistant click with a stethoscope or long screwdriver or connect a noid light to verify PCM pulse.

Re: 02 Caravan Engine PROBLEM!!!

Well I guess I don't have to worry about the problem any more. My friends parents took the caravan to a shop for him. They said it was the number 3 fuel injector. They are going to replace it and clean the rest. Thank you all for your help and I hope this helps any one else with this problem.
