1997 Chevrolet s-10 pickup

I'm trying to replace the fuel pump on a 1997 Chevrolet s-10 pickup 4 cylinder 2.2L engine I need help. I bought a new fuel pump relay and a new fuel pump. I've never replaced one before. I'm going to check the relay first. So my question is this where is the fuel pump relay located? I looked in the glove box and there was a panel that said relay on it & there 3 I identical realys in there. So I don't know what is what. I'm not sure if that is where it is acutally located. I was told that it is supposed to be located under the hood.

Relay is behind glove box.
The relay can be found by checking wiring to it.
Wires are Orange 12 volt power to it and green/white and red prime wire and gray wire power to fuel pump.
Check all fuses.
Check for 12 volt power on orange wire key on.

Check for 12 volt on red and gray wire key on 2 second prime up.
Feel relay for clicking key on 2 second prime up.

There is a single red plastic end wire for fuel pump prime connector under hood left rear of engine compartment for testing and jumping fuel pump.

Can you hear fuel pump run key on 2 second prime up or engine cranking?
Does fuel pump pump pressure?

What is a "wire key"? Also what do you mean by "on 2 second prime up" like when I start up the truck?

Re: 1997 Chevrolet s-10 pickup

Orange wire to fuel pump relay should have power any time key is turned on.

Fuel pump should start and run for for 2 seconds when key is turned to on position.
For a fuel pressure prime up.
Then it should run when cranking engine.

Does it do them things?
