Please help me car won't start!!!!!

The story so far.....
I started the car and the starter stuck on for a few seconds as the key did not spring back. I drove 10 miles stopped and now it will not start.

When the ignition is on all dash lights work perfectly

Checked the starter its fine took it off and bench tested

Checked starter Switch seems fine but does have a slight crack

Checked Battery

If anyone has any idea's id be very gratefull as i am on my 3rd day on this car now and i am very stressed

Forgot to mention it is a 1997 1.6

sounds like the ignition switch is bad.

1) Turn lights on + honk your horn.
Do they work?

sounds like time to change key cylender like he said.
