Do not get a new door even from GM,do not fit worth a crap and the hinges are welded on which do not come with the new door.Problemw with a new door is the same die from the factory is used and could be out of wack due to the die being worn out.Buy an used door instead which fits a whole lot better and you do not have to mess with the hinges.

thanks for the info picked up a door from a 04 for 50.00. fits well but isn't as flush to the truck at the top as i would really like. with no hinge adjustments how do you tweak the top of the door slightly inward?

Re: 2001 chevy ext. cab drivers door interchange

having worked in the plant that these doors are stamped at , GM of Mansfield, and worked on the line that these doors came off of, tp 21, I can attest that the dies do not wear out due to being used with so many hits. These dies are made of hardened steel each set of dies weighs around 60,000lbs (top 30,000 bottom 30,000) and there are on average about for sets per part number. When these doors are stamped they are also measured every way imaginable. And yes the people running them are watching what they do if they werent the machine would see it any ways and stop for bad parts. So again as for saying a new door wont fit because of worn dies doesnt hold water, I can say it because I was there the day the doors for these started coming off the line and I am still doing it along with the new doors and the specs are still the same as the day we started. As for tweaking the door a 2X4 placed directly under the hinges then close the door and very slightly put pressure on it checking to see that you are going the right way. Take your time and dont try to force it all at once.
