I was wondering if polishing compound will remove the sanding marks from a paint job that has been sanded down with 2500 grit sand paper. No hobby store in my area carry the micro-mesh stuff and I can't seem to find anyone that sells anything finer then 2500 grit. I really want to avoid ordering it online if possible. Do you guys with the micro mesh kits really go all the way up to the 12000 grit when sanding down your paint jobs?

2500 grit ought to be fine ! Just don't use great pressure. BTW what brand is it?

Daggar...I'm not sure what brand it is. I called up a local acrylic retailer (Tap Plastics) and they carry it there. I'm still debating if I should just pick it up there or purchase the micro-mesh kit online.

Take a look at www.micro-surface.com. You'll find that Micromesh pads aren't as fine as they claim, the 3600 and 4000 and grit size they use are actually coarser when compared to disposable sheets like 3M. For example Micromesh 3600 is only about 1200 USA standard grit. So 2500 grit would be pretty fine.

Hmmm....interesting. I am going to head down there in a couple of hours to pick some up. I will keep you posted on who makes it.

Just picked up six sheets (2500,2000, and 1500 grit....$1.15 each). It's made by 3M
