2003 taurus performance camshafts?

Does anyone know of a company that makes performance camshafts for my 24 valve DOHC Taurus? I can't seem to find them if they do exist. Ford claims the cars make 200 hp. I want to push it a little more. I was hoping someone out there might know. Thank You.

About the only alternative out there right now for the 3.0 Duratec is to use the cams out of the 2.5 SVT contour Duratec.

You can get a custom tune that will help quite a bit.

I have the SCT tunes for my 2000.

Re: 2003 taurus performance camshafts?

Thanks for the info. Are the SVT Contour camshafts a direct bolt-in? Do you think they offer more horsepower? When you say custom tune, do you have a performance chip in yours? If you do, what kind is it? Does the stock PCM have a slot for a performance chip? Sorry about all the questions. I don't know to much about the new Taurus. I am a Mustang fanatic, but I just picked up this Taurus and want to know more about it. Thank you for your time.

I understand there are several performance engine machine shops that can custom make a cam for you. You might want to check into a few of them.

You would have to give them the specs. Doing 4 cams would be very expensive.

Re: 2003 taurus performance camshafts?

The cams will work. The applications I have seen involved using the 2.5 SVT cams and Heads. Some Modifications were required.

I don't know the specs but the cams do have a higher lift and duration. The heads have a smaller combustion chamber and raise the compression.

I don't have a chip. I have an SCT tuner. It has 3 programs on it
93 octane performance tune
87 octane performance tune
87 economy tune.

You hook it into the OBDII port and it pulls the stock program. You then install the tune of your choice.

Thanks for the info and responding back. I might have to try that. I will have to look into purchasing a programmer too. Anyways, thanks again.
