Buick Lesabre

I have a 1997 buick lesabre. Driving down the highway it roars. When I do a slight turn the roar stops. What is going on in the wheel? I believe driver side. Thank you

Re: Buick Lesabre

You most likely have a hub bearing going, have it checked to make sure which side for sure, good luck and let us know when you find out.

Re: Buick Lesabre

To check if a front wheel bearing is bad is make left and right turns while driving it.Turn it to the left: right side front wheel bearing is bad and a right turn: bad left front wheel bearing.

Re: Buick Lesabre

does it roar when your going strait down the road? if not i would agree on hub bearing if it dose it when you turn one way or another. if it's real bad jack it up and move tire by grabing top and bottom of tire and see if it's got any play in it.

Re: Buick Lesabre

My opinion is this...

I would yank them both off the car and check the bearings by hand... Turn the hub by hand, if you feel any roughness or tight spots while making a rotation replace the hub... I say check them both for the reason that if they are original and one is bad the other won't be too far behind.. If you see any discoloration of the Hub( such as a blueish tint ) replace the hub as this will mean the hub has gotten very hot( too much friction )...

Re: Buick Lesabre

Jrs3800 is right, when one goes bad, the other is not far along. If your going to work on the car, might as well do them both.
One experience to consider. Mine went out. I only had the money to do the one. Everybody told you not to do just one.

That was about 2 - 3 years a go, and the old one is still is going strong.

Thank you for all the replies. We are checking the car today. It's a 97 but the motor runs great.

Re: Buick Lesabre

Glad the forum could help.

For future references, "Buick Lesabre" isn't a question. Especially in a Buick Lesabre Forum.
