How many layers do you go through? An interesting thread...

So, how many layers do you guys usually end up with? I usually have about 20-30 in total. I usually hit "Layer" --> "Flatten Image" and that, well, flattens the layers. I only use this when i am absoulutely sure that everything is set correctly.

I use about 10-20, after that i start combining the ones that i can so i don't get confused. I always save a .psd file just incase I find something I need to do later to it, well except for this explorer, i didn't do that.

It varies for me. Id say atleast 20, but probably usually closer to 30 or 35. My record is about 110, that was pretty ridiculous! It was for the photo-chop comp where we had to make a woman dissappear from infront of the car, let's just say I was doin ALOT of copying and pasting in that one. Just cause i'm bored, i'll show you the results of my 100+ layers chop

Awesome chop dude. How long did that take you!? But let me ask you this, why? I know it was for a contest, but IMO i would have left the girl in and taken the car out .

thanks for the compliments It took quite a while maybe 8 or so hours total. The hard part was reconstructing the windshield and roof areas, along with getting rid of her reflection. The entire window and side mirror were just copied from other pics. And yeah, I wasn't so crazy about deleting that hot chick either, but I love a challenge

I use from about 5 to 15, depending on the chop. However not all of those layers are USED, some are backup layers in case I screw something up. For example, I ALWAYS keep a backup of the original image in case I want to sample from it, and always create a backup before doing any rubber-stamping.

BTW, hello all...I haven't participated in a contest in here since May 19 last year, so you n00bs may not recognise me.

Here are some of my chops in the old contests:

And the contest that started all the contests:

well id loose count after 200 which is most of my chops but i also constantly flatten most layers exept the BG but i group and save sets of layers as well like wheels might take 50 or so layers then flatten to one layer of all wheels and so on then side skirt nose if u know what i mean

because theres a certain order mods should follow and one of the last ones is paint and it bogs any comp down when you link 150+ layers and start adisting things

these chops prolly had in excess of 500 layers

and my chey trailblazer with mattracks probly has the most layers of all

second place would be the Pikes Peak Escudo style civic

third would be my chic removed civic i done for ths comp at PC
