I have a 2000 Ford Explorer, and my horn will not work. I checked all the fuses and none are blown. How do I know if my relay if bad? What does if mean when I hear a clicking in the distributor box when the horn is pressed?

Check if the horn works when you lock the car with the remote, or when the alarm goes off. If it does, the problem is in the switch/wires on the steering wheel, not the relays. If it doesn't work under any conditions, but you hear a click in the fuse box when you press the horn, try swapping the horn relay with another of the same type. If that doesn't work, try taking the connector off the horn itself and jump-wire it directly to +12 volts. If that doesn't work, the horn itself is broke.

I tried all of those things except hooking it up to a +12 volt. How do I do this? You talking about a 12 volt battery?

Did you check fuse 10 (15-amp) in the battery junction box or just the ones in the instrument panel fuse box? Fuse 10 is the power to the switched side of the relay. The relay can still switch if that fuse were bad, but battery power would not be provided to the horn. Considering how seldom the horn gets used (unless you use the double press every time you lock the vehicle with the remote to honk the horn) I would be surprised if the relay is faulty.

You could also check for power to terminal 3 of the relay socket and apply battery +12V to terminal 5 of the relay socket to activate the horn.

I checked both the fuse panel and distributor box and it still doesn't work. And if this doesn't work?

Another thing, one side of my steering wheel lights work, and the other half doesn't. Is this a sign of the wiring defaulting causing my horn not to work?

My cruise control works, so does this mean that I just need to replace my horn? They told me it might be a clockspring but the clockspring operates cruise control.
