Throwout bearing question
so after 206k miles on my Rodeo, the clutch went out. I replaced it and can't seem to understand why or how the clutch or throwout bearing works. How is it that the throwout bearing pulls on the pressure plate and not push on it?
The slave cylinder pushed on the arm which pulls the throwout bearing away from the pressure plate. Am I seeing or understanding this correctly? All the clutches I have dealt with push on the pressure plate. Also what keeps the throwout bearing in the pressure plate? Mine popped out and now will not stay connected. Help please!

There is a little trick to it. I have not done one myself but there should be a little picture in a Haynes or Chilton that will help. Or, if you wait here, there might be someone that can post the pic.

OK so I figured out what the issue was. My new pressure plate fell apart so I had to drop the trans again to take it back out. The throwout bearing does pull the pressure plate away from the flywheel. The slave cylinder is now leaking so that will be replaced and then I will be rolling again.
