95 corolla problems =/

hi ppl im new here in this forum and i came to check how good it is i hope you guys could help me in some recent troubles ive had with my car. It is my first car and a bit old so i really dont have an idea of what parts of the car or anything related to it.

Well here's what hapend.

I was driving and all of the sudden the battery light came up and the car started to overheat a bit more than usual and the steering wheel got really hard to turn left or right. What might have caused this? It hapend to me before and the belts were torn off but i checked the car and the belts are there not sure if well put.

please help me it will be really appreciated !

Go to a local automotive parts store and have them test the alternator. I think a bearing is locking up keeping it from freely rotating. Call several parts stores to locate one that will test your alternator while still on the car. Many will do this at no charge.

oke one more thing does that affect my millage? what imean is that my car is a car that doesnt suck up to much gasoline but its been like 2 weeks since the care sucks gas like crazy! Could this be a problem towards the gas ?

No this would not cause a significant loss in gas mileage. The car over heating is not normal either. You need to replace your antifreeze with a 50/50 blend of Toyota red antifreeze and distilled water at the same time replace your thermostat and see if the over heating problem stops. If not you need your radiator taken out and sent to a shop for repair. Also make sure your cooling fan is operating properly.
