Shaking and Wobbling in Front End of 94 LHS

Hey,

I have a 94 Chrysler LHS that has an extremely bad shake or wobble in the front end. This occurs at all speeds. The front passenger wheel is visibly wobbling when someone is watching from the outside when going at low speeds. At high speeds the wobble is faster and much harder on the car. Wobbling decreases slightly when accelerating and when applying brakes.

Coasting or letting off the gas is when wobbling is at its worst.

Outer Tie Rod and Wheel Bearing have been replaced recently in the front passenger wheel attempting to fix this problem, but did not work.

It is odd, because this problem is worse at times than others, with no real explanation to why it isnt as bad at some times as it is at others.

From what I can tell, putting pressure on the front end, such as acclerating or applying brakes, alleviates the problem. But coasting and going down hills that just allow the front wheels to roll free with the momentum of the car causes the most problems.

So hopefully this points to a specific problem for someone.

Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Shaking and Wobbling in Front End of 94 LHS

There is looseness somewhere in the front end. Obviously accelerating or braking shifts the wheel assembly and takes up whatever slack that exists in the loose part.

Look at the steering rack and rack mounts, the strut and strut mounts, and bearing plate (at the top of the strut) and the control arm bushings and brackets.

Also, imho don't drive the car until it's fixed. This sounds like a serious safety problem.

Try rotating the tires. It may be the tire itself being out of round.
