tach jumps wildly on 97 accord 4d Lx 4 cyl

My tach jump wildly (fluctuates) while driving both city streets and freeway driving., intermittent problem. Sometime as the tach jumps like it has a mind of its own to "0" reading with hesitation and at times it stall, with hard to restart, like there is no fuel or spark, feels like it's choking felling my vehicle symptoms.. usually the tach starts jumping wildly, that would be mu first warning usuall i can pull over or drive in the slow lanes of the freeway and at time it will stall, with hard to restart. does anyone have a simlilar experience(s). i took it to my tech and since he can't duplicate the problem, he said that there is nothing he can do till it happens again. When this does happen there is no check eng light (cel). After all that happends.. later on the vehicle runs fine like there is no problem ..... till it happens again..... Does anyine know how to fix this issue. Thx

It could be your VSS. Easy and not very expensive to fix.
