4.10's will drop it alot, just might not be as streetable as you'd like. If you're looking for a compromise, try 3.73's. I've not ever done a swap, but I'm told this is more along the "best of both worlds" route...

im thinking about the swap too , my friends all say 4.10's but I want 3.73's lol , I want more tire ripping than my 3.08's can handle but it is my daily driver and it will always be because I would never drive anything less !!!

It depends on if you have an A4 or M6 tranny. If you have an A4 I wouldnt go lower than 3.73's. 4.10's are great in the M6's. I had them for a while.

I agree, Plus you wouldnt get any gas mileage. I didnt notice any real difference with the 4.10's and M6 on mileage.

hehe , one day im going to put a T-56 in this car !!! If I had the money and didnt just rebuild my auto i'd do it now !!! lol. I imagine the manuals dont lose as much gas mileage as an auto would with the same rear mods !!!! you can always shift earlier in a manual (if you want hehe i would just chirp the tires every gear heheheheh). Alot of people ask me why I dont just get another car . WHY ? its an 84 and probably one of the best (sub $5000) performance / mileage compromises I can get and still Have a nimble sport coupe. Plus that look , i love it !!! Plus what am I gonna drive when I get my dream car (69 SS 396 camaro , jet black blower through the hood ... droool) . A pinto ??? I think not!!!

yeah i seen those , makes me drool. I am actually going the other route , I have a 327 HO 350hp from an old vette i think im going to drop it into my car and kind of try and adapt the 350HO conversion to it. Hardest part will be to get a chip burned for it but i bet it can be done and it would be pretty badass , never seen a 327 in a 3rd gen before !!! :smoker2:

Nope, they're talking about the gear ratios in the rear end...

I'd trade my 84 trans am to someone if they could make my ole 84 z28 go 0-60 in 3.08 secs , without nitrous of course hehe.

Hey Extinct, when you changed your rear gears, did you recalibrate your speedo and odometer? How?
