Could I have done better in my 92 Lude SI??

If this is not the right forum for this i do apologize....

Did I do good or could I have done better? Ok so here's the story (and yes I know street racing is bad)

I just got my 92 Prelude SI a month ago and havent really raced anyone with it. I know I know... street racing is bad... but yea anyways. I've browsed several forums and such. I came across one site about prelude h23 free mods. So the only thing I have done to it so far would be the coolant bypass mod and the intake flapper valve mod. Nothing else has been done. So its basically still stock. Oh by the way its an automatic.

So anyways I was leaving a bowling alley to go up to starbucks. Now behind me I see a green/primer white Integra. Not sure of the year cause im not a teg person but it had the four round headlights. Now I have no ideas on what kind of mods this guy has, but i have seen him at this bowling alley before. I know he has an exhaust and a front and back body kit(hence the white primer). Now most people that are that into thier car dont just have an exhaust unless they are money strickened, but who knows. So back to the story. He's behind me and turning the same way I was... so I accelerate not too fast but not normal either... We're both going up a hill and it seems as if he is trying to catch me, but im not too sure being that he is 3-5 car lenghts behind me.

We get to the top of the hill and the light ahead is red so I start slowing... as he gets closer and closer it turns green so once again I lay a bit more into it.... now he's 1 or 2 car lenghts behind me but coming up quick.... so we go like this for a bit..... not driving too fast because of the area..... then as im ahead of him again the approaching light is red... so I start braking.... and then again... green.. damn this time he full on has the advantage and passes right by me.... I thought oh well what the hell theres starbuck's.... then I was like naaa and so I stepped on it and started to catch back up. This time he gets the red that we're approaching so he starts breaking..... and once again... green, I go flying by him. I look in my mirror and see him creaping up, but he was still like 3 cars lenghts back.... it continued this way for awhile and then damn... another red so I start slowing.... and then green again.... now we end up neck and neck.

We continue down the next street getting little advances on each other.. being like I slow a bit and he gains then he slows abit etc. Finally we both come to a complete red. We both stop. I knew this was it. So I just sit there.. waiting. I couldnt really tell if he was reving for a launch or not cus I was just paying attention to the light and the surrondings for other cars. I wasnt reving for a launch at all. The light turns green and I floor it(not too sure if it hit the floor, wasnt paying attention to that) My wheels chirp a bit and catch.. We are neck and neck.... I start to pull on him. His hood is at about my side view mirror. my cars shifts to second, he starts to get a bit closer, then he shifts. we're neck and neck, and my car is about to shift gain, he starts to get a tad ahead, and mine shifts.. he starts to pull.. then he shifts..... finally he pulls more and I end up with my hood at his back quarter panel. So he took me.. I didnt mind...

We come up to the next light and I roll down my passanger window. I ask him if its a GSR and he nods. Then I smell something. I was like.. what the &*$% and start hoping its not my car. The light turns and we drive normally to the next light I see him waving his hand arround in his car as if he let one go... so the smell was coming from his car. I got closer as I turned at the next light, and damn I got a bigger whif of his car.... he burnt something.. and im thinking it was his clutch. That sucks....

So well yeah did I do good for a auto 92 prelude SI basically stock(read above) against his Integra GSR with exhaust and god knows what possibly else.. or Should I have been able to do better?

oh and flames are welcome haha. I also read that the flapper valve mod causes low end torque loss... could that have been an advatage to him?

Moved to "Street/Track Racing Stories"!!

I think youīve done well against the GSR especially because youīve got an auto tranny and he had a manual one. On the other hand we donīt have got any GSRīs or auto Siīs over here in germany so itīs not easy to compare them for me.

I guarentee its not bullshit. And why would he lie about it being a GSR? How can I know for sure? I can try asking him if I see him again at the bowling alley. That is if he'll talk to me. And was it his clutch i smelled?? thanks..

yea it was probably his clutch, you can tell if its a gsr or not by the rims and they have vtec emblems in the back under the passenger tailight

from exterior, its easy to hide a gsr. if u have aftermarket rims an u remove ur DOHC VTEC emblem from the back, then it'll look like a gs/ls, no difference. if u get a chance tho, jus have him pop the hood an look for the DOHC VTEC valve cover.

as for it not being b's...i'm not doubting u at all (cuz i wasn't there an u were), but once u find a gsr w/ a driver who can drive, then u'll lose by quite a bit more. even the 5sp's are not much of a match for my gsr w/ a few simple mod's, let alone an auto.

yeah to a new model gsr you should lose badly if its driven by a good driver. i know i killed pretty badly early 90's si ludes but a gsr would take me.

nope the I4. Its actually has a few good advantages like 50/50 weight ratio split wich is very rare. so it outhandles the v6 quite good. also its about 200 pounds lighter at about 2800 pound and the aftermarket is huge since the block is a zetec but with a different head. Ti get some real power out of it i need to turbo though.

but anyway i never raced a GSR i presume though that i'd lose since they have more hp and a presume about the same weight. i'll be more than happy to meet you when i'll finnish my mods though
