Looks like my H2O pump is leaking at 45K

Yeah, it has a lifetime warranty, but I sure was hoping for 60K at least. Maybe I should have sprung for the oem pump. Every time I get one coolant leak fixed another pops up. What a drag!

Re: Looks like my H2O pump is leaking at 45K

No doubt. It's the pump. Starts pissing from the top front of the oil pan after a minute of running. Glad I caught it before the daughter baked it. Not glad I have a weekend project. Looking at only the pump and gasket as the timing stuff only has 45 or 50K on it. Gotta love lifetime warranties, but I guess I asked for it. Almost 4 years to the day that I put this pump in.

Was it a GMB pump or something else?

Whatever Advance auto here in the US carried 4 years ago. ACE possibly. The parts guys claim that the new pump is better. The new one is an Airtex. Having a bitch of a time getting the fan off its mount...

I really don't see how a new pump can be better than a reman. They both have new bearings and seals and that's really all that matters.

i believe just like transmissions the cases can be out of tolerance. some cases can be tight some can be loose from wear, but still in specifications for reman. just a thought! mike

Re: Looks like my H2O pump is leaking at 45K

It is amazing how some folks can smell/see fluids on the ground and others are oblivious!

About finished it tonight. I'm going to replace the four fan nuts. Rounded three a little and one a lot (vice grips got it to finally turn!). Just have to put the fan assemble and belts back on before taking it for a spin. I already fired it up once to check timing and it ran well briefly.

Re: Looks like my H2O pump is leaking at 45K

Got it done. Popped the camshaft position sensor code because I ran it a short time without the CPS to check timing before closing it up. Cleared it and it didn't come back. Ran hot first time out of the driveway, but topped up coolant and it stayed at 185*. It had been running in the high 190s. This is a bear of a job with that little part buried under the timing covers and run by the timing belt!
