Wheel Hop

I noticed when taking off fast (mostly to race) my front wheels seem to bounce or "hop". I have 17's with 205/40 series tires...I think I read somewhere, where you can replace some bushings to elimnate this? I haven't lowered my prelude yet, but will be doing so in the next couple of weeks...I want to be able to take off fast (spinning is fine) without the hop, any suggestions?

Replacing the motor mount bushings will help.

But you just have to learn to feather the gas and clutch better too to prevent wheel hop.

I've heard about the motor mount bushings...How they expensive? Hard to replace? Beneficial in any other way? Sorry about so many questions. Just trying to learn.

Thanks.

here is a how to for the polyurethane engine mount. i did it on mine because the doggie bone mount was out and it didn't break since ( 1 year) http://importnut.net/motormount.htm

also i have the poly bushings for the front and the ride can become a little harsh at times but the car handles great.

I also heard that struts have a big impact on wheel hop. Correct me if I'm wrong. As for lowering it, I'm pretty sure it'll get worse when it's lowered. The added compression rates of the new springs in my car made wheel hop rediculous. I have yet to experience it since I got some adjustable struts, but then again I haven't spun the wheels in the rain since I got them, (that's when it's the worst in my car).

Oh and another thing. Here's a quick and easy way to stop wheel hop. When you want to light them up, just take it to red line, then drop the clutch. Those wheels will spin so fast they won't be able to hop. Just kidding. Don't do that.
