Question of the blower resistor

Dodge Grand Caravan 2001, 3.3L

I have been reading a lot on this forum and everybody had problems with the blower motor resistor, I had mine replaced with a BWD (part RU1055) and only last for 15 minutes, went to the parts store and they changed for a new exact the same and worked for one week and now it burned again.
My question is: Anybody had these problem that the resistor wont last? and if the original Chrysler part last longer than the BWD?
I read that maybe is the fan motor that is using more power than normal, but I think that will blow the fuse before the blower resistor.
I'm confused, the original last for 8 years and the BWD last to me at the most one week.
Other thing that I noticed is that when the original was bad the fan only work on the very high speed and with the BWD burned it works on high speed in the very high and in one before, but at the same speed in both.
Any ideas?

Thank you

Re: Question of the blower resistor

Common scenario. Blower motor keeps burning out resistor blocks and the fuse never blows. I'd chaulk it up to poor design. Chrysler using a poor design - unimaginable!! Right.

One theory that may apply. The cabin air filter gets clogged making the blower work harder. If you have a filter you might want to have a look.

Re: Question of the blower resistor

I have an 01 voyager and it started the same thing put 3 resistors in and it blew all 3. Replaced the blower motor after making sure the wiring connector to resistor was ok and it has lasted 3 years without blowing another resistor

Re: Question of the blower resistor

Thanks, I found one resistor from a junk yard (original) so far so good. If it blows the resistor again I will change the blower motor.

Re: Question of the blower resistor

They have an updated resistor, insead of a credit card type, it is a lot beefier and coated in ceramic. It seems they are using real resistors now lol. I have seen very few come back.

Question Re: Question of the blower resistor

OK, so far I have read that the blower resister is under the hood, and I also read it is in the glove box. Are there TWO of them? Can not find info on a 2005 Grand Caravan. Where is or Are the resistor(s) located? Also I would love to find a schematic for the heat/AC circuit. HeadlessHorseman had a link, but it only goes to the manual and the schematic is Not in the manual!
Does ANYONE know where I can get a schematic for my van on line? And for free? I am about broke trying to fix this problem. I am so aggravated! Please can anyone help me? I would be so grateful! Thank you!
