12v accessory power

Where on the fuse panel or where at all, can I tap for 12v accessory power?

I installed a tachometer in my car and hate having a switch to manually turn it on and off (since if it's wired to battery 12v, it'll drain it..)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmxThYoN_J4

Please help, thanx..

with a fuse installed for the tach connect to an ignition 12volt fuse,,rather than an accessory 12volt, which would be on contiuously.

use a meter to find the fuse with key on only that has power

Re: 12v accessory power

I'll try probing through the fuse panel tomorrow.

If anything, I'll keep the switch for the backlight on it atleast so I can turn that on and off at will without turning the tach off.

I would ditch the switch for the light and just wire the light with the same wire used to power the tach.
You should not have to have a separate switch for the tach light. Sure the tach light will be on when ever the key is switched on but who cares.

Re: 12v accessory power

Well in this video you see the current situation right now at the beginning.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOXSfLE2N3I

A little switch turns the whole tach and light on at the same time.. That switch was already there, neons under the car (im no ricer, so i took them out anyway, but kept the switch just in case)..

that I would not do...the reason is these dimmers on these vehicles can barely handle the load ,,,gets hot the dimmer resistor does..

on the older vehicles the dimmer had more load capacity..
