Ignition Switch

HELP PLEASE!
I have a 92' olds 88 3.8L
Runs fine. I believe the Ignition Switch is going sometimes it doesnt start but if i wait 30-60 seconds it does.
But lately it starts but when I try to shut it off the key wont turn back..

IS this my Ignition Switch or something else??
Security light doesnt come on.

What should I do...

Re: Ignition Switch

Welcome to AF, basic checks are in order here, battery and ground connections, do you have 12v to the starter solenoid when trying to start, these are the first steps.

Re: Ignition Switch

Ok I see ,the key cylinder or the ign switch at the bottom of the column, or the actuator gear and rack attached to the cylinder mechanism could be at fault.

Re: Ignition Switch

Just to let everyone know.
I had to replace the entire steering wheel column.
A medal piece was broken and cant be bought alone. so i got a used column for a great price!
ANd it works GREAT!!
