Oil pan gasket replacement

Greetings everyone,

I have a 2000 Regal and have just learned that I will need to loosen my engine mounts and transmission mount to take the oil pan off and change a leaky gasket. Bummer! These things used to be so easy on my old GM cars. I have located the engine mounts but not the tranny mount. After they are loose where do I place the jack to get the ungine up enough to take off the pan? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Oil pan gasket replacement

Welcome to AF.

Definitely a PITA of a job. The transaxle mount is on the driver's side at the subframe assembly. Best way to remove the oil pan is suspend the engine/transaxle with an engine hoist and then loosen and remove/drop the complete subframe assembly.

Re: Oil pan gasket replacement

Sounds like I don't have the equipment for this job. I have a couple of floor jacks but not a hoist.

I may just have to let the oil leak for a while. Until I can stop sending all of my money to my kids colleges.

Thanks for the info BNaylor.
