90 Accord LX - No Fire this morning

Have checked the following. Timing belt OK, rotor turns during crank. Voltage tests on on blk/yel 2P connector to Dist. and yel/grn 6P connector OK. No spark directly out of coil. Rotor and cap are in need of replacment due to arcing, but until I can get spark not urgent. Is there a test for the coil, either resistive or voltage test?

Thanks!!

Re: 90 Accord LX - No Fire this morning

Threre is no reliable test for the coil. The accepted method is to test the igniter and ECU and if they test good, then it is the coil. One method is to unhook the coil and hook up a small 12V light to the coil leads. When turning the engine over with the starter, the light should blink. Another test is to determine if you have power to the 2P connector when turning the engine over. If not, then you probably have a defective ignition switch. If you have oil or rust dust in the distributor, you have a bearning/seal going out in the distributor which will kill the coil. The only fix is a new distributor. Check O'Rielly/Kragen/Chucker for an aftermarket replacement. (About $150)

Re: 90 Accord LX - No Fire this morning

I found some info for testing the coil. Ohm range of .6 - .8 ohms across terminals A & B. 12,880 - 19,320 between terminal A and the secondary. Readings where .8 and 15,700, so I am taking from that that the coil is good. Went ahead and replaced the cap & rotor. Still no fire. Any Ideas from anyone on this short of dragging to shop and forkin' out $$$?

Checked fuses under hood and under dash. Then re-seated main relay in socket harness. Engine fired right up. Loose connection or first sign of main relay failure?....Either way its back running!!
