Trouble programming garage code, HELP PLZ

Ok,
Yes I read the OM (Owners manual)
I have the 3 LED's and followed the directions, FAIL.
I did erase the old codes from prev, owner, I believe, followed the instr. for that

• Press 2 outside buttons 20 sec
• press "Learn" button on opener
• Press button in truck
• Hold till opens

Nothing, I tried to program each of the 3 buttons, nothing. I tried holding the controller near the truck button, nothing.

Any thoughts??? I really want this back so my wife can give me back my remote. My Neon is not this fancy to have self opening buttons
