What is the life expectancy of an automatic transmission for an '03 Corolla?
Thanks for your time |

Re: '03 transmission life
I don't know what the life expectancy would be, but we have an '03 Corolla w/auto trans that has 295xxx miles on it.
It is all hwy miles though (around 250 miles a day). It is a medical courier vehicle so it gets well maintained. |

Re: '03 transmission life
There you go.
Regular fluid changes and consistent preventive maintenance is what keeps vehicles practically trouble free. FWIW, I have an '04 Matrix and change the tranny fluid every 30k miles. I'm one who does not believe in waiting for the manufacturers mileage time. Same goes for engine oil/filter changes, every 3k miles or 3 months. Coolant replacement every 3 years. Most of our driving here is stop 'n go, but to some that seems like overkill but it works for me.

I professionally don't agree with how far vehicle manufacturers have stretched out regular service intervals as of late. Not going to happen if I take care of the maintenance.

Re: '03 transmission life
My wife's 03 Corolla has 180,000 miles with original trans, never had any issues, still has original fluid in it.
