Welcome to AF, why can't you check the fluid?

Re: 98 Cutlass tranny problem

How to check transmission fluid on a 98 oldsmobile cutlass?

There is no dipstick on a '98 Oldsmobile Cutlass, so you must take it to a mechanic and have the transmission serviced after 100,000 miles (per the owner's manual). Poor design if you ask me.

This is what I have read and been told, newbie has nothing to do with it, I do know a thing or two about mechanicing, having done my own for years. I just thought someone might have knowledge on how you could do it yourself. Thanx anyway.

Re: 98 Cutlass tranny problem

My apology you are correct, BTW the " newbie" was not directed to what seemed like a silly question. My car is a 3800, has a dipstick. Go to this thread for the info. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=440777
