Failed emissions. Have 2 codes to fix!
P0303 - cylinder 3 misfire
P1655 - EVAP Purge Solenoid Control Circuit check engine light is on Im guessing P0303 is due to either spark plug, spark plug wire or bad coil?? I changed 4 plugs and wires, but i couldnt get to the ones in the back right. too much stuff in the way.. With P1655, I have no idea... I dont even know what EVAP Purge Solenoid Control Circuit is.. is this easy/cheap to replace myself? 97 g/a gt, 3.1L v6 |

Re: Failed emissions. Have 2 codes to fix!
The purge solenoid is on the backside of the engine. It bolts the the coil bracket. It has 2 vacuum hoses attached to it and one 2 wire electrical connector. Check to see if it is plugged in.g Its possible you may have bumped it when you where trying to replace the spark plugs.
You may be on the right track with the plugs/wires that need tro be changed for the missfire code.

Re: Failed emissions. Have 2 codes to fix!
yes on 97 3.1l there is so much stuff
here is how to do it the best way remove two bolts 10mm that are holding aluminum bracket for the icm, remove two 13mm bolts that are holding the same bracket at the bottom, remove spark plug cables from 1 3 5 coils and move icm bracket together with icm and coils and place it out of the way. Then you will be able to see spark plugs for 1 3 and 5. |
