06 siezed motor?

Bought an 06 at an auction for 3 grand, V6-18000 miles-xlt w/opions. Threw a battery in it and starter started smoking. Took drivebelt off, starter off, put trans in nuetral and I cant turn the crank. Is there anything else that I can check before I go out and get an engine? Also is there any warranties that can help me here? Thanks

Re: 06 siezed motor?

The powertrain warranty for an 06 Escape is 36,000 miles and 3 years. Check the date of manufacture. You may still be able to get it fixed under warranty if it isn't over 3 years old. Most likely the motor is siezed up. Little you can do other than replace it.

Sounds like a derailed timing chain locked-up ,see

Remove both valve covers, and start with a visual inspection.

Is this a keeper, or a flip?
