Look what I found in our school shop...

A DYNAMOMETER

Our school has had this dyno sitting in the mech. engineering shop, it hasn't been used in years. Well some of us found out about this thing and got permission to hook it all back up and use it when ever we want to. We pulled it out today and spent most of our time just trying to position it back where it needs to be. We fired up the computer system also to make sure it all still worked. Everything seems to be working fine, dyno is still wired up so we could spin the wheels and get reading on the screen so it appears to be working. We will be working on it some more this week, finish setting it up and doing some maintanence work. Also calibrating the dyno again. Hoping to have it up and functioning sometime next week.

That's cool man. We had a new one installed my last semester at central carolina. It was pretty fun. That's when my talon dynoed at like 72 to the wheels. We had ricers pouring in to see what they were running. It was funny actually watching that. The most I saw was my buddy with the GST pulling about 418 hp to the wheels. And of course I was the slowest that I saw. It pissed me off I couldn't put the GSX on there. I still have yet to see how much HP my eclipse actually has. Let me know the next time you pass through Sumter.

I have been in Sumter a lot lately visiting my grand pa. Im sure I will be passing threw there in the next few weeks

Thats awesome man. Def keep us updated. I can take my civic out there and put down about 63 hp....show em whats really up.

Well definately let me know and Ill pm you my cell. After I change my transmission fluid, I am going to be able to start driving my car a little harder after my breakin. Im still going to go light on the shifting fast seeing as Ive been told the synchronizers wont be fully broken in until about 1500-2000 miles. Im also anxious to see a turboed 420A, as I have never seen one in person, just pictures.

We have a dyno here as well for the race car but its an engine dyno

. Its amazing how things get forgotten. We found a ford 302 and C4 transmission all hooked up in the back of our welding shed.

Got some more work done on the dyno on Friday. Finished setting it up, just have to grease all the bearings and get this thing calibrated. Put the eclipse up to see if what kinda clearences we have getting into the shop and up on the dyno. I never scrapped so we should be fine. Starting on the calibrations Monday so maybe it will be ready for use that evening. Here are a few more pics I snapped.

Yea I dont even know why we have this thing. We talked to the guy that use to run it and he said they only put a few cars on this thing. I was playin with the software and this dyno only has 51 miles on it! And there were only 3 car registered on it. So its pretty much brand new still

There will be lots of dyno vids Im sure. The car is actually getting dynoed on a different dyno at a shop around here tmrw. We have about 10-15 cars all getting dynoed so it should be a lot of fun. Hoping for at least 330whp on the mustang dyno.

I know nothing about dynos. Ive always heard that mustang readings are lower than say a DynoJet. I guess Mustangs are supposed to be a closer depiction of actual power. Some people say they wont go off DynoJet readings.

I'm interested to see what kind of hp your putting down. Dynos aren't cheap how does something like that get forgotten?
