need a new clutch
What is a good after market clutch for my car. I want something cheap but something that will hold more than stock. Also how much work is a clutch on a Honda?

I myself like the Exedy clutches...decently priced and smooth. As far as changing it all depends on how much you know. I can change a clutch in a d-series in 3 hours, granted i have a flywheel already to go in as soon as the old one comes out. Pretty much straight forward.

Have u got any engine mods, coz i aint really worth uprating the clutch if you havent IMO, if you buy a respectable make of clutch it should do fine,

I have some mods; Intake, exhust and a D16A6 head. So my car is close to stock. I just want a clutch that is better than stock.

Stock clutches are better than what most people think.

i need a new clutch too. i'm thinking stage 2 or 3. does anyone have an explanation on the difference in them? and who makes a good clutch? i heard act and thats what i was going to get, but i heard they are rough. i want something thats soft enuff for a daily driver, but will catch good too.

basically, my clutch is the equivilant to a stage 3. it is a waste of a clutch for now, but it gives me a LOT of room to work with mod-wise, without needing another clutch. personally, i'd say unless u are planning on getting pretty far into ur car, then jus get a OEM clutch. pointless unless ur going to have more power then that stock clutch can handle.

you'd probably be fine with either a good quality (REAL Honda parts) OEM clutch or a stage 1 clutch. the different "stages" just show how much power it can grip. The higher stage clutches can handle more power, but they can be very hard to use in every day driving. but it depends on the brand.
have you tried just tightening your clutch cable? often times the clutch is worn, but not to the point of replacement, and it just needs ot be tightened up. according the a local shop that is only honda/acura specific, you only REALLY need a new clutch when it is slipping going into third gear on a 4g civic.

well, as long as u stay away from the puck-designs, daily driving isn't going to be too much of an issue. jus some will take a lil more pressure to push in, but IMO i love having a clutch that takes some force to put it to the ground. hate those flimsey clutches...

off the subject a little. I still have the stock clutch it's not slipping. But when i turn the car off it smells really bad. As if i had been burning rubber while i was going to the grocery store. Sometimes i can even smell it inside the car as i drive. Does this mean i have to change it also. Any suggestions.

It could be the smell from you slipping the clutch when you take off or shift and burining it up. It shouldn't last much longer if your slipping it a lot.
