2001 Sequoia skid plate removal

Hello everyone,

Just bought a 2001 sequoia. I did the first oil change yesterday (without removing the skid plate). I wanted to remove the skid plate, but as soon as I looked at the five rusted bolts, I thought...these are going to break as soon as I put a ratchet on them. I have a 1995 Corolla where all of the bolts broke when I attempted to remove the plastic shroud.

Any tricks to getting the bolts loose without breaking them?

Thanks!

More than likely the shield has been off and on for every service previous to you owning it. The only sheild that needs to be removed is the very front one. The bolts have been in and out so much I would be more worried about them being stripped than frozen.

Thanks. I know what you mean, and it makes sense, but these bolts do not look (or feel...I did put a ratchet on a few) like they have been removed in awhile. I started a WD40 treatment yesterday, hopefully it will loosen things up. I really don't want to have to drill and tap.
