05 malibu Maxx

My 05 maxx was in a recent accident air bags deployed and right front smashed pretty good no fluid loss just body damage It will crank but wont start doesn't sound like the fuel pump is running is there a shut off that cuts out the fuel after a hard hit?

Hey how are you, I grew up in Potosi and live in Farmington now. Anyhow, yes the government mandates that there is something to shut the fuel off in a crash, started mandating it in the late 90s. It is usually an inertia relay that is probably in the trunk area, look at the manual, it will tell you all about it if its there.

Not on a GM! Ford is the only one of the domestic manufacturers that has the inertia switch.

I do believe that GM uses the oil pressure switch to supply the fuel pump with power after the vehicle is started. It primes the system and gets the vehicle started with the relay and then shuts down the relay and allows the oil pressure switch to provide power. Once the engine stops the power to the pump stops.

Thanks guys I unplugged computer and battery then put a full charge on it and it started still have a emission light on and need to replace my clock spring body work done and airbags or done thanks again
