84 Towncar Speedometer

84 Towncar/ 302/
Speedometer quit working, but the cruise control still works. I assume it is either the cable between the cruise control sensor or the speedo itself.
Can anyone tell me the location of the cruise sensor? I can't seem to find it. The book I have says it is a fist sized module near the carb?
If it is the cable from the speedo to the sensor, does the speedo have to be pulled out or will the cable come off the back?

Try the guys at LOL there's a huge ammount of traffic for Lincolns there.
