Coolant loss

see http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=26788

Yep! Shorted coolant can give a false indication to the Temp guage, and send no alarm.

I would buy a handheld digital Temp gun to measure Temps on the L-bank.R- bank, coolant expanshion tank, and radiator.

Re: Coolant loss

Forum might be biased, because theres alot of money being made, throwing parts, and service At these cars.

Caution -
1) Becareful of stop leaks products on these cars, because it might help to seize up the Dual climate control valve (DCCV), and the electric coolant pump.

Are Auto service shops using these products for a short fix?

2)Make sure coolant services are on schedule , because the electric coolant pump,DCCV, or a freeze plug could go bad.

3) Use the coolant bleed procedure from http://www.alldata.com ,theres alot of heater hoses.
that need to be bleed, or else shorted coolant Agian!

4) Was a coolant pressure Test done?.

WOW!
One dude payed $3.5k for a leakey freeze plug.
Another paid $125 for a bad coolant expanshion Tank(Hot water bottle) ,with a broken nipple.

I would of replaced, that bad nipple with a brass fitting from a plumbing supply store.

A new coolant bottle without Jag symbol for $10 @ a local Auto parts store.

The technician probably broke by accident, or Heat damage to the coolant expanshion tank.

LOL- I would of removed the electric water pump, DCCV for the short, and run some metallic block seal.
LOL - Look at Thread ''What color coolant''
http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=27533
It's all about the brand, formula, and what really works best.
Green or orange
One or the other
Mixed 50% water (Not Tap water)
I like the green premium brand, because the rust inhibitor forumula might be better.
$3.5K dollars on a engine freeze plug that went bad, because of rust.
I wouldn't pay $20 a gallon for coolant either.
