AF dead or dying?

Has this website had any traffic lately? There has been practically no new threads in a while now and response times have gone from hours to days to even weeks. I know we all have lives but whats going on?

Re: AF dead or dying?

Ya there's only like a handfull of us here now. I'm guessing because we usually see a dip around the winter time, but then all the Ricers come back in full swing right before Spring. As for the regulars, I don't know. I'm here all the time. I keep this window open at work all day so I'm usually the first to get to the threads, but I've been seeing no threads or anything coming up. Kinda sad. But there's other forums that are more 'direct' to the DSM community. We can't compete with stuff like that. But we try anyways

Re: AF dead or dying?

I am super busy this semester in school so I dont have a lot of time to kill on here each day. I usually try to stop by in a few times to see if anything new has popped up but I dont posts that much.

Re: AF dead or dying?

I try to hit up AF at least once a day now but it's no longer several times a day like it used to be mainly because of the decline in posts... It has been nice because I've made better use of my time other than warming up my computer chair...

It's not just the DSM section that has been slower but other sections are experiencing this as well. The F-body section is pretty much completely dead as most of the regulars have disappeared entirely... Like Dave said, people have gone onto other sites that are more focused on a specific vehicle. I know a few who have done this but they still visit here once in a while...

If you wanna see some members pop up, just change the whole layout of the DSM section again. That usually brings em out of the cracks to complain then they linger back into the shadows until the next change is made. lol...

Re: AF dead or dying?

I usually check the forums on here about 3 times a day to see if theres anything new. On my days off I will be on here just about all day. IDK, I've just noticed thats super slow around here anymore. I'd rather come here than go somewhere else so that's why I'm concerned.

Re: AF dead or dying?

I've been doing more floating around other forums as well. As much as I love this place, sometimes I need answers that aren't being supplied here. For example with the Grand Am. In that section, it takes days for answers and even then, it's usually not even worth while.

Re: AF dead or dying?

There is usually peaks & valleys in every aspect of life. AF might be in a valley at the moment since quite a few of the vehicles that folks may have asked questions about went the CASH FOR CLUNKERS ROUTE. Folks do not usually ask ???s on brand new vehicles. Also because of the economy folks may not fix what they have. No money to fix whatever you have even if you are a D.I.Y. guy. May be just letting the ride sit till better times come back or just running one vehicle instead of 2.

Re: AF dead or dying?

I usually get on here about once a day. I never answer any questions or anything.....because there usually isnt any. And I never really just post up anything, because I never really mess with my cars anymore. I go to another forum sometimes when Im bored, but I come here because I like the 5 people on this board.

I like when new videos are posted, speaking of I have one to post up. Check it out.

Hey we don't know everything. But we learn from each other... the definition of a helping forum.

Re: AF dead or dying?

This is true, but you know when your working on your car and a buddy of yours is over that doesn't know anything about cars but he is still helpful just because it's someone to talk to. He's just someone to help think shit out if your stuck on something, now that's how I look at the forums too. I don't even care if a response is helpful or not, suggestions or words of support are usually the best help you can provide even if you don't know the answer.

Re: AF dead or dying?

I'm on several forums, but this one just seems to be the most personable one. Which makes a huge difference in how people interact. I mean, there are a few people from other forums I talk to also outside of the forum life, but this one has the most...

Maybe we should organize more smaller meets so people don't have to drive as far. Then we can promote the forum and get it out there to the public a little more...
