1992 Ford Tempo Camshaft bearing issue
I recently purchased a 92 Ford Tempo. The owner is a mechanic and says the camshaft bearing are worn. He said when the car gets warm and the oil starts to get thin the engine will knock.
How do I fix this? Is it inexpensive?

Re: 1992 Ford Tempo Camshaft bearing issue
It is expensive. The engine must be removed to replace the bearings. Try a thicker weight of oil that won't thin out so much when the engine is hot. If you are now using SAE 5-30 or SAE 10-30 oil change over to SAE 10-40 or SAE 20-50.
