thermostat

Will a thermostat that runs the engine cooler be better than a stock one? I know that when drive my car after sitting outside for a while the engine seems more responsive. After I drive it for a while it tapers off in responsiveness (i hope that's a word). Is it because it is cold or is there another reason?

a Spoon themostat will open sooner but i dont think you will see much if any performance gain. more of a safety measure i guess.

so your car feels faster when the engine is cold? weird, rings seal better after the engine is warm (heat expansion). and oil should also be thinner when hot, less parasitic drag on the crank.

im guessing you have a short ram intake sucking nothing but hot air after the engine is warm and underhood temps increase

Those thermostats are more for rally or autocross. In those cases you want to start cooling the car sooner to prevent over heating. For a daily driven car that's not always the best way to do it. It will keep the car from warming up as quickly.

keep your thermostat stock unless you do a lot of hard driving or live in like new mexico. And spoon sports items are gay.
