Re: Code p1281
Probably means the t-stat is stuck open which doesn't allow the car to get up to temp quick enough.

Re: Code p1281
Your scanner is probably correct but you might want to double check the meaning of a P1281 with a dealership before you start chasing the wrong dog. I'm finding some lists saying it's a problem with an accelerator pedal position sensor and some agreeing with your scanner. Even Allpar.com leaves it a bit fuzzy. The change appears to have taken place somewhere in the 4th generation vans (2001-2007). A 2001 maintenance manual should verify it.
A t-stat is the normal fix but it could be the sensor or wiring. Has the indicator been reading low lately? Are you getting plenty of cabin heat as soon as you should? Any engine problems? What I'm getting at is what other symptoms are you seeing besides the P1281 code?

Re: Code p1281
That was based on mitchel. Basically they wanted you to monitor coolant temp. It is supposed to get to 160 degrees within so many minutes. If it did not than a t-stat failure should be investigated. With as many problems as chrysler has had with broken t-stats it seems like a logical first step.
What temp t-stat did you install?
