Re: super or turbo? more for your $$$$$

The turbo is preferable due to the fact that the boost comes from exhaust gases and does not rob power from the engine to make extra power. The turbo can usually be put on an engine very easily as most kits come complete with everything you need. The supercharger is obviously more impressive looking but it has a host of issues to install and robs some of the HP. To install a supercharger kit is a lot more detailed than a turbo and unless the kit is fully equipped with everything you need you may have some issues in getting the engine to work properly.

Have you looked into the Whipple supercharger on ZZP's site? From what I hear it bolts up with little to no modifications. ZZP I think even has a video of a car that some guys installed it onto, sounds sick!

I'm with Tim.

i preffer Supercharged over Turbo, especially on an automatic transmission car. since with a supercharger you get boost at all RPM's. with a Turbo you must Spool up, and its a little harder to hit the powerband with an auto trans.

also, with a Turbo...you will have to dump alot of money into your trans for it to handle all the power.

Re: super or turbo? more for your $$$$$

100% depends on your turbo setup and what you are looking for. Turbos make power far more efficiently. One of the reasons you see the fastest Vipers, Vettes, Supras, etc in the world with a turbo setup. Top fuel uses s/c but that is on a whole different level than a streetable car. With your displacement you could get a TD04 turbo setup running it in a twin setup that would spool incredibley quick and still produce substantial amounts of power. People with VR4's (3.0L DOHC twin turbo) have used tiny little TD04 turbos (stock housing, different internals) and have ran mid 10 second 1/4 miles with bolt-on turbos that spool really quick. You can also get into upper level turbos that have extreme top end but take awhile to spool. In this case, many people run nitrous or a hybrid turbo setup with one being smaller than the other in order to gain performance at all levels of the powerband. If you through on a smaller set of turbos on your car with a proper tune you could have a seriously fast car with lots of lowend power. Heck, even my dinky little 2990 cc motor makes more torque than a 2002 Corvette @ 2,500 rpms than a Vette when it was stock. However my top end dies a little after about 5,700 It really all depends what you are looking to do with your car.
