2000 Savana headlights

Hi, I have been having trouble with the headlights going out sometimes as i crank the engine and others while i am driving. I have been reading that other GMC vehicles have had that happen and it was related to the multifuntion switch. Is this possible for my problem? any pointers as to where i should start?
