Noise at 70 mph
When I hit 68 or 70 mph and above in my 1998 Chevy Venture, I can hear a creaking or squeaking noise that comes from under the hood, maybe a foot from the windshield, and directly in line with my steering wheel. This squeak/chirp/creak is intermittent and seems to increase in sound and frequency the longer I am at the 68 mph or above speed. When I slow down it disappears.
This is frustrating. I can drive all day at 65 mph and below and never hear the sound, but as soon as I hit 68 or seventy it begins. Any ideas? Also, I have had the suspension inspected and no signs of any problem. As I said the sound is intermittent and as no rhythmic pattern or predictability other than speed. Thank you, |

Make sure the hood hold open thing is secure in it's clip. Mine comes loose every now and then and it makes a noise like you described when the wind moves it up and down a little.

Re: Noise at 70 mph
Thanks for the advice, I thought that it might be wind related. I was recently traveling along a 2 lane highway at 55 mph and whenever a large truck would blow by me I would hear the creak. I'll make sure that it is fastened and see if that does the trick.
