96 G/A trans not shifting no signs.

My buddy h as a 96 (he said its a v6) grand am and out of no where the car just stopped moving. Itll shift from park to neutral and back but thats it. When its put in drive it does nothing. Because it didnt show any signs of hard shifts or slippage, and the fluid level is sufficant I think its sensor related. Has anyone experienced this before i tried seraching on here but didnt have any luck. Do not want to pay a shop to scan. Help.

Could be a sensor, but most likly the tranys dead if thiers no movement.

Has anything been checked, fuses, wire harness to the trans, shift linkage, burnt fluid?
Other then that it'll need scanned for trans dtc's.
