Well I have to admit I needed a good laught at the end of the work day today and that is exactly what I got.
I changed the oil in my car back on Saturday and ever since then the hood had not been closing right. Normally you just drop it from about 14 inches and it shuts tight. Well I've had to drop it and then give her a good push or drop with an extra hand if you know what I mean. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary on Saturday. Have opened and closed the hood every day since then (trouble shooting something else). So today I went to check my oil and as I had the hood open something caught my eye - it was the Dr Pepper bottle I was drinking during the oil change and it had been smashed into the drivers front corner of the hood. Stuck quite nicley under the hood. Happy to say once removed problem solved. And a good laugh to boot. We have a saying here in Alabama "If it had been a snake it woud have bit ya!" So who else has left things behind once job finished or has similar stories? ~GOD BLESS~ john

Re: So it was Dr Pepper all thi time ...
I couldn't tell you how many thousands of dollars in tools I have left under hoods over the years!
I had a mustang one time that the throttle was stuck wide open. The customer had it towed in. I opened the hood in the parking lot and removed the corn cob stuck in the linkage! I had a minivan that the customer replaced the intake gasket on. Drove fine for a couple of days then the oil light came on. After finding fabric debris in the oil pan we pulled the intake and found the remnants of the rags the customer carefully placed in the valley to catch the debris from cleaning the head surfaces. OOOOOPPPPPPS!

Re: So it was Dr Pepper all thi time ...
Years ago had a Chevy Citation that the a/c would not cool properly. This was in the early 80's. Had not worked on those since the city at that time was almost all Mopar. I replaced everything in the system twice. Thought sure I had gotten bad aftermarket parts first. Orded OEm and same problem. Was standing next to it one day and laid my hand on a plastic box and the cooling fan came on and a/c started cooling. Fan relay was bad. over 2k in parts for a 5$ relay. Never told boss. Told him had to re-calibrate the reed valve in compressor. He said OK and walked off.
