1998 Trans Sport engine misses under load
Recently I noticed the engine misses a beat when accelerating onto a highway or climbing hills. Usually only one beat. This was probably discussed earlier but could not find thread. I know there could be a lot of reasons. Changed the fuel filter, was dirty, but did not solve the problem. What should the next step or steps be? Ignition wires, plugs......?
It's has a 3400 cc motor with O/D. transmission and 320,000 Km. on it. Mick |

If you don't know the history of the plugs/wires yes, good place to start. Any codes?

Or you could pull the front plugs & see how they look, those ones are easy.

I cured a similar problem by getting rid of the heat shields around the spark plug boots. The wires were grounding spark at the heat shield. I tossed those pesky aluminum spark grabbers in the trash.
