Rust protection, oil spray or "leave as is"???

.

My wife bought a new '09 Montana SV6 van last March 30-2009. We bought it with "basics" in order to keep its initial purchase price lower. We're now heading into winter snow / ice with road salt months and feel pre-winter prep tasks should now be done.

With this in mind, do we:
A - Rust Check Company: http://www.rustcheck.com/theProcess.asp
B - Krown: http://www.krown.com/#pricing/minivan
C - Apply Oil Spray treatment.
D - Leave as in "for another year" (washing any factory oil film off its steel parts).

If wondering, I heard my local GM dealer uses Krown process (than add their mark-up dollars afterwards). My BIL `used to own` a Rust Check company and he liked their process as well.

From your perspective, what do you recommend????

I vote for Krown. It looks like the same stuff here in the states known as RustStop. Whatever you get make sure it isn't a tar-like product. It should be an oily substance that can continually creap and protect. The RustStop product looks kinda like petroleum jelly only not as thick and when you touch it the warmth of your hand turns it to a liquid. It's great stuff and will protect your van for many years to come.

Thanks dewaynep.

Since my above post, I did lots of "surfing", calling around and comparing different Rust Protection "processes" in my area. Majority of folks in my area like Krown Company as well. A few moments ago, I called my local Krown Company (20 minute drive away) and plan to drop my vehicle off this Thursday noon - for their treatment Thursday afternoon to Saturday morning. Thus, any "drippings" will land on their lot - not in my wife's driveway. (Giant smile).

Thanks for your Krown Company recommendation....

Re: Rust protection, oil spray or "leave as is"???

I had my Uplander done at Ziebart shortly after purchasing it.They offer a package of rustproofing, undercoating, paint protection, fabric protection, and a glass treatment all for one price. I did some research online before making my decision and read a lot of good comments about it. We also have RustCheck in our area, and independent body shops that apply their own. I had a friend who worked in a bodyshop about 20 years. He told me all they did when a customer asked for rustproofing was to apply used motor oil to the underside and rust prone areas of the vehicle.
