Brake light on dash on!?

Anybody know what could be wrong? The light on the dash comes on from time to time. Not the ABS light but the power brake one. I checked the fluid level, pumped the emergency brake pedal but nothing. The brakes do feel fine but I rather not guess since I'm planning a long trip in a few weeks.

Can anybody help?

Unhappy Re: Brake light on dash on!?

Two things. 1. If the e-brake pedal return spring is loose, this could cause an occasional flash or "brake" light warning. Try pulling the e-brake pedal up when the light flashes, if it solves the problem, replace the spring or use a heavy duty rubber band to hold the pedal up. 2. If that doesn't work, then you may have a problem with the master cylinder or the proportioning valve, perhaps even the ABS controller. these can be checked out at a dealer, usually for $80 or so for the dedicated scanner...
